Because making it to Friday is enough reason to celebrate!
Call me crazy, but making it to Friday afternoon always feels like a victory (maybe my victory standards are low, but that's a conversation for another day). Honestly, between work, school, and extracurricular activities it sometimes feels like I can't catch my breath. Then, like a gorgeous ray of hope, Friday afternoon comes! The weekend is upon us! Time for a wild and crazy Friday night... or something like that ;) Enter Family Friday Nights. Meghan and I started doing Family Friday Nights in the fall. The kids are always exhausted after a long week of school, and the adults are typically equally exhausted. But that's no excuse for being lame, so we decided to start doing low key family dinners to celebrate the end of the work week! We always split the labor of cooking (sometimes just order out), keep planning ahead to a minimum and try to have something fun planned for the kids to do. Usually board games, movies, kid-produced talent shows...anything that feels like fun to them!
To make your life easier, plan a simple menu or use one of ours! Truthfully, you could order a pizza and have a good bottle of wine and it will be just as wonderful. The entire purpose behind FFN is not a perfect spread, but rather the habit of getting together weekly and making family time a priority! To make if feel special, we suggest having cute paper plates/napkins on hand, a go-to cocktail, confetti (because doesn't it just make every thing cuter?), and some sort of delicious dessert. Because a gathering without cake is just a meeting. It's a fact.
Whatever you eat, however you decide to make it fun, just take the time to connect to the people who are most important to you! Now, here is some inspo to get you ready for your next family night:
